First of all, evangelion isn't just a boring japan animation robotic series, it is more complicated than that. Each character in the story has problems that they have to face alone, some might even influence other people. They so have to make live and death decisions(one wrong decision=the end of humanity). But the main point of the story is simple, defeat the angels.

Angels are somehow inter-related to humans(we are about 99.89% the same, but our bodies are much smaller than most of them), there are a total of 17 angels.

There is a total of 26 episodes of evangelion not including the movies which was created a few months after the episodes. In the 26 episodes, it mainly talks about defeating each and every angels but the movies are a bit different. The movies were created because millions of people did not like the ending of episode26 so it is just the follow up of what happen after it.

I personally and highly recommend that anyone who have not seen evangelion should go out to and buy their dvd or vcd or at least buy their books. I think it is a great story and hope you will enjoy it as much as I do too!
